System APR is now set to 10%, resulting in an actual ~15% APR due to the lower circulating supply. This long-awaited change, driven by community consensus, is a crucial step in preparing the network for the radically new HydraGon version of HYDRA. The reduction in APR is essential to manage inflation, strengthen the economy, and enable a smoother migration across the ecosystem. Additionally, the reduced APR means lower inflation and lower price pressure, leading to more balanced emissions overall and a more sustainable economy. The new Hydra mainnet introduces a completely redesigned economic framework focused on enabling high APR for vested positions while limiting unconditional inflation for unvested and short-term positions. Reducing the APR will make obtaining HYDRA via unconditional staking a much more difficult endeavor, with the end goal being 8x more difficult than before. At the same time, the new HydraGon consensus will allow loyal members who commit to vest their positions to match or even potentially exceed the previous unconditional APR. This next halving will further reduce the APR from the current 10% down to 5%, continuing the positive trajectory for the migration and significantly improving the economy. Future Halving Schedule: - Halving #2 (First Week of September 2024): Reduce System Inflation to 5%, yielding ~7.5% actual APR. - Halving #3 (First Week of October 2024): Reduce System Inflation to 2.5%, yielding ~3.75% actual APR. - HydraGon Mainnet Migration: Reduce System Inflation to 0%, ensuring a natural incentive for everyone to transition to the new platform. Reduction in HYDRA Emissions: Halving #1: Decrease from 20,808 HYDRA per day to 10,404 HYDRA per day. Halving #2: Decrease from 10,404 HYDRA per day to 5,202 HYDRA per day. Halving #3: Decrease from 5,202 HYDRA per day to 2,601 HYDRA per day.
